Our Kentucky Wedding 7.31.21

I cannot believe that it has almost been six months since our wedding!

I feel like I could write a 10-page blog post on all things wedding details, advice to future brides, and all the crazy ins and outs of the planning process but I will try my best to give you an overall view and a giant photo dump to do the trick!

GETTING READY

I was surprisingly overall calm the morning of our wedding, except for the slight chance of rain so I was obsessively checking the forecast.

I loved getting ready and having all my best girls all in the same room with me. I had my wedding morning Spotify playlist going (linked here) to set the vibe and we all wore our matching Homebodii robes! (Sophia Lace Trim Robe in Champagne and Helena Long Robe).

OUR FIRST LOOK

If you had asked me years ago what I thought about doing a “first look,” I would have said I wanted to wait to see my future husband at the altar the traditional way!

However, we decided to do a first look and we are so glad we did! Not only does it give you such a special moment together before are you are surrounded by everyone else, but it totally calmed all my nerves for and made the day with Connor last longer!

After we did the first look, we took care of all the and bridal party photos which I highly recommend because it saved SO much time after the ceremony.

CEREMONY

The ceremony was the part of the day where both Connor and I were the most nervous, excited and emotional… but that is probably to be expected. Connor’s uncle married us and it was so personal and meaningful to us!

With having an outdoor we knew weather could be a problem, especially with the summer heat and chance of rain in Kentucky. We got umbrellas to try and provide more shade for guests (2 of which did not come in in time) but it ended up being a cloudy day in the 70s which is so rare for July.

It luckily did not rain on us during the ceremony, but it did during some of our photos throughout the day. But hey at least we weren’t dripping sweat right and people always say cloudy is the best condition to shoot in, plus rain is apparently good luck?!

RECEPTION

Our first dance, dinner, speeches, cake cutting, and dancing the night away all went by seriously way too fast.

Our first dance was hands down one of my top 3 favorite parts of the day! We danced to “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne and I literally felt like I was in a movie haha! If you struggle with picking weddings songs like we did… I included all our wedding songs on a wedding Q&A linked here.

I’ll never forget the feeling of having everyone you love in one room! Our friends and family are so much fun and it was the most incredible feeling to be surrounded by all of them at one time.

POST WEDDING THOUGHTS

It’s honestly so insane that an entire year of being engaged went by as quickly as it did.

It was no secret that I struggled with the planning process in more ways than one (read my Why I Finally Hired A Wedding Planner blog post here) but overall best weekend of our lives and it was all so worth it.

My inbox is always open if you have any wedding related questions or just want to chat!
